Please click "See more" to read the English version! 🇬🇧 Czy wiecie jak bardzo w porównaniu do 1904 roku zmieniło się III piętro Gmachu Głównego? ⏳ 📐✂ Na archiwalnym zdjęciu możecie dostrzec jońskie głowice kolumn z symbolami architektury (cyrkle i węgielnice). Zostały one ozdobione opaskami z ornamentem okuciowym, charakterystycznym dla architektury Gdańska na przełomie XVI i XVII stulecia, natomiast balustrady schodów utrzymano w nowoczesnej na początku XX wieku stylistyce secesji. Niestety te niezwykłe detale z powodu zniszczeń wojennych nie przetrwały do naszych czasów. ___________ Do you know how much the 3rd floor of the Main Building has changed since 1904? ⏳ 📐✂ In this archival picture you can notice some ionic column heads decorated with the symbols of architecture (compasses and steel squares). This kind of strapwork ornamentation was typical for the architecture of Gdańsk at the turn of the 16th and 17th Century, whereas the the stair railing was kept in a modern style, typical for the 20th Century Secession. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see these beautiful details due to their destruction during the war.
